Overview

Two days is what I always recommend when people ask me how long to spend in Agra. One day gets you the highlights, but two days lets you experience the city the way I know it — watching the Taj at both sunrise AND sunset, wandering through Fatehpur Sikri when the tour buses have left, and eating at the local spots I grew up with.

This is my go-to itinerary for couples and history lovers. Day one covers the iconic sites; day two takes you off the beaten path to places most visitors never discover. I've included my favorite food stops between monuments — because honestly, the Mughlai cuisine here is half the reason to visit.

Priya's insider tip: Stay near the East Gate so you can walk to the Taj for sunrise without arranging transport at 5 AM. The Trident Agra or Crystal Sarovar are my top picks for the price.

2-Day Itinerary FAQs

What can I do on a second day in Agra?

Day 2 is perfect for: a day trip to Fatehpur Sikri (4-5 hours), visiting the Baby Taj and Chini Ka Rauza, exploring marble workshops, revisiting the Taj at a different time of day, or taking a cooking class. You'll have a much more relaxed experience.

Where should I stay in Agra?

For Taj views: Oberoi Amarvilas or ITC Mughal (luxury). Near East Gate: Trident Agra or Crystal Sarovar (mid-range). Budget: Hotel Sidhartha or Zostel Agra. The Taj Ganj area is walkable to the Taj but can be noisy.
