Taj Mahal Visit Guide
Everything you need to know about visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the World
Overview
15 min readI grew up fifteen minutes from the Taj Mahal. As a kid, I barely noticed it — it was just the big white building I biked past on the way to school. It wasn't until I studied its history at university that I understood what I'd been taking for granted. Now, after over a decade of guiding visitors, I still get goosebumps every time I walk through the Great Gate and see it framed in that archway.
This guide has everything I tell visitors in person: the gate with the shortest queue, the exact time to arrive for the best light, what the tourist brochures don't mention about the dress code, and the photography angles that actually work. No filler — just what you need to know.
Priya's insider tip: Everyone photographs the Taj from the front. Walk to the mosque on the left side — the contrast between the red sandstone and white marble is stunning, and you'll have the angle almost to yourself.
